SPORTS PERSONALITY // 2014:

3D VISUALS & CAD LAYOUT


White Productions approached me to develop a set of 3D visuals for the 2014 Sports Personality of the Year proposed stage set design.

The event was to be staged in the impressive Hydro building in Glasgow and it was important to create a set of visuals that would live up to the impactful nature of the venue.

Working from a card model and closely with the production company and designer I developed accurate 2D CAD plans to aid in the costing process and then produced accurate 3D models of the set. The design involved the use of multiple high and low resolution LED screens and it was important to accurately convey the dramatic effect that these would create.

A custom lectern was designed to reflect the dramatic nature and striking lighting effects of the stage set.

3D MODEL

A 3D Model was created using 3D Studio Max. It was then accurately lit and rendered using VRAY.

Multiple views of the 3D model were created with additional drama and effects added during post production using Photoshop.

CAD Layouts

2D CAD layouts were created using AutoCAD.  These were necessary to allow for accurate costing of the design and to ensure the layout of the proposed stage set was fully understood by all parties involved.
